So yet another midsummer has passed in my life. Although, this was by far one of the best ones I've ever had. I'm lucky enough to have been born into a family that has a small summer house out in the Swedish archipelago, and even luckier to have friends to share it with, during a special occasion like this. I wish I had some video footage of all the things we did, 'cause there is so much to explain about the traditions of Midsommar that I can't really fit it into a simple blogpost.
But - to summarize it briefly - We woke up, gathered flowers and birch wood branches, which we fashioned into midsommarkransar that we then wore for the entire day. Went down to the little town hall and danced the traditional dances around the midsommarstång. Later, we had a vegan barbeque (YASSSS, you CAN barbeque without meat), drank plenty of snaps, enjoyed a game of kubb and danced and drank until the sun bounced back of the horizon.
It was fantastic.
